Awards.. My Heart is Full❤️

When I set out and finally published my first book, I had no idea how difficult it would be to get reviews and to just get the word out.. to the public.

All I knew was that I was meant to write these books and it was time to show the world a few characters who may resonate with other parents and children.

On a whim, I decided to send the pdf version of my first book to a couple of advertised award/review companies. In my mind I didn’t think I would win but I also knew our story needed to be told and was hoping others would receive it in a new light and discover the books important underlying message.

I chose these companies as they never guaranteed a win or even a good review. Just unbiased feedback from random editors and reviewers. Of course for a small fee…but that is par for the course as you look at all other book review companies.

I know everyone talks about Kirkus reviews but I just couldn’t afford it, maybe someday… just not quite there yet. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s all very nerve racking once you send off your book through email as it is instantaneous. Your book is received and now being examined by professionals. I do however like the fact that the review, once completed is sent to the author first and then you as an author decides whether to publish your review.

I actually contacted the one company as I hadn’t heard anything for months and assumed that my book was just not good enough, when in fact it had been short listed and was being looked at for excellence in that category.

Just because my first book has received these awards does not mean that my others will. I mean it would be nice but I know not all of my books will be taken in and appreciated as much across the board..

With that said, I am completely thankful to have received these awards, as they give recognition for what I knew I could accomplish. I am hoping teachers especially, and parents will also read my book with their students or children and appreciate our stories being told. ❤️

-Am I selling this book now like crazy?… No..

-Did everyone automatically want my book in their stores and libraries?…No..

BUT, I will say that these awards gave me a sense of self confidence I haven’t felt before. Complete strangers read my book and deemed it “Good Enough” to win an award.

I am and will be forever grateful.

Thank you to International Impact Book Awards & to Literary Titan for reading, reviewing and deeming my book “GOOD ENOUGH.”

I hope you all enjoy this series and read with your little ones not just over the holidays but everyday.
